The IEEE Atlanta section is a very active and vibrant community with almost 3,700 members, 14 technical chapters and 3 affinity groups.   

IEEE Atlanta is a professional organization dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. 

Anchored by the city of Atlanta geographically, the sections’ area stretches to other major regional cities such as Athens, Peachtree City, Rome, Helen, Dahlonega, Macon and surrounding counties.  Due to its central location within the state of Georgia, the Atlanta section borders eight other IEEE sections, more than any other in the state. 

Atlanta is home to a large and diverse group of technology companies where many of the Atlanta section’s members work. There are a wide range of Industries and Governments and Academic institutions as well as Leisure and Hospitality Companies that have operations metro Atlanta include Cox Enterprises, Georgia-Pacific, Chick-fil-A, CDC, Delta Airlines, Southern Company.  Home Depot, UPS, NCR, Coca Cola Lockheed Martin, , and many others. List 

The section is also home to over 50 educational institutions. The University of Georgia System and HBCU and College and numerous private Institutions and Technical Colleges.  Many of  these schools have active IEEE student sections composed of hundreds of their own members.
